Mended Hearts Equine Therapeutic Center was organized as a not for profit organization. The members of the Board are primarily volunteers. Mended Hearts was formed in October of 2001 by the unpaid efforts of the Executive Director. Mended Hearts is organized exclusively for charitable, benevolent, therapeutic, educational and agricultural purposes. Mended Hearts is situated on 12.5 beautiful acres in rural Metamora IL, which is in Woodford County.
Mended Hearts provides, promotes and supports equine-specialized interventions in the area of therapy and education. Our purposes is to contribute positively to the emotional, cognitive, physical and social well-being of people with emotional, behavioral, social and physical disorders. Our desire is to enable people to lead lives of quality and dignity.

Sami grew up in East Peoria, IL and graduated from East Peoria Community High School in 2013. Sami always had a soft spot for animals ever since she was a little girl. After graduating from high school Sami has been working with animals including volunteering as a Veterinary Technician Assistant at TAPS No-Kill Animal Shelter. Sami enjoys being around and taking care the animals at Mended Hearts.
